1. Introduction

Lawnzie (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Lawnzie mobile application and website (the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information — name, email, phone number, password
  • Profile Information — bio, photo, service categories, service area
  • Payment Information — bank account details (collected by Stripe)
  • Communications — messages, reviews, ratings, support requests
  • Job Information — addresses, photos, service descriptions
  • Verification Data — insurance certificates, background check consent

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information — device model, OS version, identifiers
  • Usage Data — features used, timestamps
  • Location Data — service area coordinates, IP-based location
  • Push Notification Tokens — for delivering notifications

Waitlist Sign-Ups

If you submit your ZIP code and email through the homeowner waitlist on our marketing site, we collect: your email address, the 5-digit ZIP code you enter, the approximate latitude/longitude derived from that ZIP, the source page you signed up from, your browser user-agent, and a one-way salted hash of your IP address (used only to throttle abuse — we do not store the raw IP). We use this only to email you a single notification when local lawn care pros are working in your area, and to remove duplicates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the notification email.

Switching to Lawnzie

If you ask us to move your business to Lawnzie, we collect what you enter on the switch form (your name, business name, email, phone, current app, business size and notes) and a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit abuse. You may then upload files you exported from another app. They can include your customers’ names, contact details, addresses and billing history. Please don’t include full card or bank account numbers; we don’t need them. We use these files only to set up your Lawnzie account and store them privately. We delete them 90 days after your migration is marked complete, 30 days after we decline a request, 180 days after your last upload if the migration stalls, or when you delete your account, whichever comes first. You can ask us to delete them sooner at privacy@lawnzie.com. Before you upload, you confirm the customers are your own. We keep a record of that confirmation, including the time, your IP address and your device, for 4 years after your request closes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information to operate the Platform, facilitate transactions, communicate with you, improve our services, ensure safety, comply with law, and enforce our Terms. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Text Messaging (SMS)

By providing your mobile number and creating a Lawnzie account, you consent to receive account, onboarding, and customer-support text messages from Lawnzie. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. We do not share or sell your mobile phone number or your SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

AI Features

Some features use artificial intelligence provided by Anthropic: Lawnzie Assistant, support chat, receipt and equipment-plate scanning, completion-photo checks, and quote and job-description suggestions. When you use them, we send Anthropic the text you type or say, the photos you submit for scanning, and the account, customer, job, invoice and schedule details needed to answer. Anthropic processes this information to provide the feature to Lawnzie. Lawnzie Assistant never sends, changes or pays for anything until you confirm it.

Voice. When you talk to Lawnzie Assistant, your device's speech service (Apple, Google, or your web browser) turns your speech into text. Lawnzie receives only the text, never the audio recording.

4. How We Share Your Information

With Other Users: Contractor profiles are visible to Homeowners. Homeowner names and job details are shared with quoting Contractors. Reviews are public.

With Service Providers: Stripe (payments), background check provider, Google Cloud (maps), Google Analytics (anonymized usage analytics), Supabase (database), push notification services, Anthropic (AI features, described below), Twilio (text messages), Resend (email delivery), Sentry (app crash and error reports), and Meta (hashed email address and phone number, used to measure our advertising).

For Legal Compliance: When required by law, subpoena, or court order.

Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale.

5. Your Rights and Choices

All users can access, update, and delete their information through account settings or by contacting support@lawnzie.com.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information. You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Contact privacy@lawnzie.com to exercise your rights.

Other State Privacy Laws

Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights. Contact privacy@lawnzie.com.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data — duration of account + 30 days after deletion
  • Transaction records — 7 years (tax and legal compliance)
  • Messages — duration of account
  • Usage and analytics — 24 months (aggregate); 14 months for event-level data in Google Analytics

7. Cookies & Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use lawnzie.com. GA4 sets cookies in your browser and reports pseudonymous usage data — pages viewed, time on site, geographic region — back to Google. We do not link this data to your name or email, and GA4 does not store full IP addresses. We retain event-level analytics data for 14 months. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by using a privacy-focused browser or extension that blocks tracking scripts.

8. Data Security

We implement encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, secure authentication, and role-based access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (COPPA compliance).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
